Fantasy Hero & Villain
The project involved creating character designs for a hero and a villain based on a written brief. I began by exploring the distinct traits and themes of each character through silhouettes, allowing me to focus on their forms and dynamic presence. This initial stage was followed by the development of thumbnails to refine their features and poses further. After selecting the strongest concepts, I proceeded to create detailed final renderings of both characters, ensuring that each design captured their unique personalities and story elements. The end result showcases a cohesive visual contrast between the hero and villain, illustrating their roles within the narrative.
Rough Ideations
Here is an example of some rough thumbnail designs used to explore various visual possibilities. In the case of the villain character, I emphasized the theme of an exposed heart that resembles dying embers, creating a stark contrast with his veiled face, which is shrouded in fabric and adorned with spider webs. This approach allowed me to capture the essence of the character while honing in on the most compelling aspects of his design.
